In 2011, he received best paper awards from Emerald Publishing and the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. In 2015, his contribution to social enterprise education was recognised by the International Social Innovation Research Conference. Twice returned by Sheffield Hallam University for research excellence in the UK (RAE 2008 and REF 2014), his research with Dr Tracey Coule underpinned a REF Impact Case on ‘Democratising Charities, Co‑operatives and Social Enterprises’. Rory’s work is downloaded from the Sheffield Hallam University Research Archive more often than any other academic working at Sheffield Business School.[1]
